Diary of a would-be Printmaker -1

Fresh Insights

As an artist, I often wish for more time to spend in my studio, time to play and explore rather than time focused on meeting a looming deadline.  Lockdown gave me that time and yet making the most of it was initially a struggle. It felt self-indulgent to take up this unexpected bonus when others were struggling to keep their heads above water and even fighting for their lives.

I tentatively crept into my safe space, each visit to the studio lasting a little longer.  I eventually settled on printmaking as a tool to reconnect with the subject of my practice: how we feel connected to our environment. Approaching the topic through a different medium has refreshed my thinking and fresh insights are emerging.

My initial focus is on the elements of the net itself.
